Override Timesheets lets approvers fix a timesheet directly—no back-and-forth required. Use it to add, edit, or delete entries (including Time Off and Company Holidays when they appear on the employee’s timesheet) so payroll and approvals keep moving. It’s ideal for last-minute corrections, closing a pay period, or covering while someone’s away.

Where to access Override Timesheets
Method 1 — Company → Timesheets: Click Override Timesheets, choose the Person and Date, then select Override Timesheet.
Method 2 — Timesheet Review: From Timesheet Review (found under Company >> Timesheets), click the pencil icon under the Details column, then click a specific day to open that date in Override.
Permissions & division scope
- Administrators can override any employee’s timesheet.
- Managers need the Override Timesheets permission in Security & Permissions.
Which timesheets & entries you can override
- Statuses supported: Open or Rejected.
- Approved/Locked: Reopen first (Reject).
- Views available: Override supports both Day View and Week View (toggle at the top).
Start/End & Stopwatch behavior
- If your organization tracks Start/End/Break times, those rules still apply while overriding.
- Entries created with Start/End (including via the Stopwatch) are editable in Day View. In Week View, they show an indicator and must be edited in Day View.
- Entries created without Start/End can be edited in either view.
Features available while overriding
When you override as another user, you can still access most of the same time entry tools they have on their timesheet. This includes:
- Switch between Day View and Week View while overriding.
- Add or edit time entries (Client → Project → Task), including hours and time details: Start / End / Break (when enabled).
- Add or update entry details such as Notes and Custom Fields (if configured).
- Enter or edit Time Off (based on your organization’s Time Off settings and permissions).
- Review time entry completion indicators in each day’s column header (if enabled) to confirm minimums are met.
Company Holidays: If a Company Holiday appears on the timesheet, it can only be edited or deleted from the timesheet. To add a Company Holiday, you must do so from your organization’s Company Holiday list.
- See time entry completion indicators in each day’s column header (if enabled) to confirm minimums are met.
- Open side widgets (when available) for Timesheets, Time Off, Billing Goal, and Assignments for extra context.
Display hidden clients/projects/tasks
Use the Display hidden clients, projects, and tasks option to enter time against all active items—even if Project/Task List Controls or the employee’s My Projects/My Tasks settings would normally hide them.
- Active only: This option does not surface inactive items. Reactivate a Project/Task before editing/adding time to it.
- When disabled: Rows that include hidden items show a lock icon and are not editable for the timesheet owner; a matching lock appears in the owner’s view.
Troubleshooting
- Can’t edit a row: Check status (must not be Approved/Locked). For Start/End or Stopwatch rows, open Day View to edit (and use the Options toggle if the entry mode differs).
- Person not selectable: Manager may lack the Override permission or required Division permission (if applicable).
