Timesheet Attestation prompts employees to confirm a statement (for example, accuracy or compliance language) before submitting a timesheet. Administrators configure the statement; acknowledgements are stored in history for accountability.
Summary: Enable attestation, set your statement, and require employees to acknowledge it at submission. The acknowledgement is recorded in Timesheet History (and your audit trail, if enabled).
Why it matters: the statement reinforces policy, improves compliance, and provides a documented record of employee confirmation.
Quick Navigation
Enable Attestation
Attestation is available by default. There’s no checkbox to turn it on or off. You can use ClickTime’s default statement or customize it:
- Go to Company → Preferences.
- In the Time and Expenses section, review the attestation text. Keep the default or enter your own.
- Save your changes (only needed if you edit the text).
Configure the Statement
Administrators can edit the attestation text to match company policy, compliance rules, or labor law requirements.
- The statement appears to employees exactly as written.
- Keep it clear and concise. Example: “I attest that the hours recorded on this timesheet are accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge.”
- Changes apply to future submissions; previously attested timesheets retain their original text in the audit record.
Employee Experience
Employees see a required confirmation step at submission:
-
Timesheet View — The submit dialog includes a checkbox with the attestation text.
-
Week View (weekly/biweekly models) — The submit dialog includes the same checkbox.
- Mobile app — The attestation text is displayed and must be acknowledged before submitting.
Note: The attestation step does not appear when a different user submits a timesheet on someone else’s behalf.
Audit & History
- Each acknowledgement is logged in Timesheet History (who, when, and the statement version).
- If your account includes the Audit Trail module, attestation events also appear there.
- PDF/CSV exports that include history will reflect the attestation confirmation for review.
Putting it into practice:
- Align the language: Draft a short statement that mirrors your policy and any applicable labor requirements.
- Publish once, apply everywhere: Add it in Preferences → Time and Expenses; employees will acknowledge it in Timesheet View, Week View (where applicable), and on mobile.
- Create a durable record: Each acknowledgement is captured in Timesheet History (and Audit Trail, if enabled) and appears in exports for audits and reviews.
- Maintain over time: Revisit the wording periodically. Updates affect future submissions, while prior records retain the original text for traceability.
