The Project Performance dashboard provides a consolidated company-level view of how projects are tracking against key performance metrics. You can compare projects at a glance, filter and search for specific projects, and review budget tracking and worked time across the company.

Access the Project Performance dashboard
- Go to Company.
- Select Dashboard.
- Click Project Performance in the left navigation (next to the Approval Dashboard).
Switch between Billable and Non-Billable projects
Use the tabs at the top of the dashboard to switch between:

Billable Projects (includes billing-related metrics)

Non-Billable Projects (includes labor-cost budget tracking for internal projects - for more detail on this budget type, see our article here)
Note: Some columns differ depending on whether you are viewing Billable or Non-Billable projects. Billing related detail and Profit Margin will only be available when viewing Billable Projects.
Search and sort projects
Use the Search field to find a project by name. You can also click a column header to sort results by that field.
Filter projects
Click Filters to narrow down which projects are displayed.
Available filters include:
- Project Manager (All or Specific)
- Project Status (Active or Inactive)

Budget:
- All Projects
- Budget On Track
- Budget Overspent
- No Budget Set
Configure columns
Click Configure Columns to choose which fields appear in the dashboard table.
Note: The Client/Project name column is required and cannot be removed.
Billable Projects: available columns
- Client/Project name: The Name of the Client/Project
- Project number: The Project number that was assigned to the Project during creation.
- Project manager: The Manager assigned to the Project (Company >> Project >> Edit the Project >> Project Manager)
- Lifetime billings budget: The lifetime budget that is set and only available to billable projects. The Lifetime budget field only available to ClickTime instances with Resource Management enabled.
- Project Start date: The date the project becomes available for time entry.
- Project End date: The date the project is no longer available for time entry.
- Status: Whether the project is active or inactive
- Notes (clickable indicator): The specific notes entered under the project. This is not related to notes on time entry.
- Total hours tracked: The total amount of worked hours entered against the project.
- Total labor cost: The total amount of money in labor (cost rate based) against that project via time entries.
- Total billings: The total amount of money billed (billing rate based) against that project via time entries.
- Profit margin: Total Billings - Total Cost = Profit/Profit Margin
- Budget (visual indicator): Shows the amount of budget consumed and the amount remaining.
Non-Billable Projects: available columns
- Client/Project name: The Name of the Client/Project
- Project number: The Project number that was assigned to the Project during creation.
- Project manager: The Manager assigned to the Project (Company >> Project >> Edit the Project >> Project Manager)
- Lifetime cost budget: The cost-based budget that is set and only available on non-billable projects.
- Project Start date: The date the project becomes available for time entry.
- Project End date: The date the project is no longer available for time entry.
- Status: Whether the project is active or inactive
- Notes (clickable indicator): The specific notes entered under the project. This is not related to notes on time entry.

Refresh dashboard data
In the top-right corner of the dashboard, you can view when data was last refreshed. Click Refresh Data to update dashboard metrics.
View project details
To view deeper insights for a project, click the View (eye) icon in the Actions column. This opens a drill-down view with additional budget and performance details. For more detail on this view, please visit our Project Health View article.
Interacting with the pencil icon (edit) will take you to the Project details for that project. You can also navigate to this page by going under Company >> Projects >> Edit a Project. For more detail on creating and editing projects, see our article here.
Permissions and account access
User permissions
To access the Project Performance dashboard and related financial metrics, users must:
- Have permission to view projects
- Have access to view both cost rates and billing rates
- Not be a project-limited manager
- Have permission to run company reports
Account access and modules
- Accounts can access the Project Performance dashboard on any subscription bundle for the purposes of Labor Cost Budget tracking on Non-Billable Projects.
- If you wish to see Billable Project data as well, it is required that you are on ClickTime Premier and have access to Resource Management + Time Billing must be enabled under Company >> Preferences. Without access to Resource Management, the only projects available in this view are Non-Billable and the data presented will be dedicated to Cost only.
Important: Accounts with Project Insights enabled cannot access the Project Performance dashboard.

Troubleshooting
If you do not see the Project Performance dashboard or certain financial columns, check the following:
- Project Insights enabled: Accounts with Project Insights enabled cannot access the Project Performance dashboard. Learn more about the Project Insights Module.
- Your role has permission to view projects and run company reports
- Your role can view cost rates and billing rates
- You are not a project-limited manager
- Your account has Time Billing enabled (tied to Billable Project data)
- Your account has Resource Management enabled (tied to Billable Project data)
- If data appears outdated, click Refresh Data and confirm the Last refreshed timestamp updates
